Sultan Abd\u00fcl\u00e2ziz\u2019in on \u00fc\u00e7 \u00e7ocu\u011funun yedincisi olan Abd\u00fclmecid Efendi 1 Haziran 1868\u2019de Dolmabah\u00e7e Saray\u0131\u2019nda do\u011fdu, B\u00fcy\u00fck Millet Meclisi taraf\u0131ndan 19 Kas\u0131m 1922\u2019de hil\u00e2fete getirildi, hil\u00e2fetin 3 Mart 1924\u2019te kald\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131 \u00fczerine ailesiyle beraber T\u00fcrkiye s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131 d\u0131\u015f\u0131na \u00e7\u0131kart\u0131ld\u0131, yirmi y\u0131l boyunca s\u00fcrg\u00fcnde ya\u015fad\u0131 ve 23 A\u011fustos 1944\u2019te Paris\u2019te vefat etti. Son Halife h\u00e2t\u0131ralar\u0131n\u0131 yazmaya Fransa\u2019da, 1927 Ocak\u2019\u0131nda ba\u015flad\u0131 ve h\u00e2t\u0131ralar\u0131 vefat\u0131n\u0131n ard\u0131ndan k\u0131z\u0131 D\u00fcrr\u00fc\u015fehvar Sultan\u2019a intikal etti. D\u00fcrr\u00fc\u015fehvar Sultan\u2019\u0131n k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck o\u011flu ve Abd\u00fclmecid Efendi\u2019nin de torunu olan Prens Keramet Jah, 1980\u2019lerde h\u00e2t\u0131ralar\u0131n ilk y\u00fcz sahifesinin fotokopisini \u0130stanbul\u2019a getirip L\u00e2tin harflerine nakletmesi i\u00e7in S\u00fcleymaniye K\u00fct\u00fcphanesi\u2019nin o zamanki m\u00fcd\u00fcr\u00fc Muammer \u00dclker\u2019e verdi. Ancak, \u00dclker\u2019in vefat\u0131 \u00fczerine metnin yeni harflere nakli tamamlanamad\u0131 ve fotokopiler, S\u00fcleymaniye K\u00fct\u00fcphanesi\u2019nde unutuldu.
