Uzun bir tarihi ge\u00e7mi\u015fe sahip olmas\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131n sek\u00fclerle\u015fme olgusu son birka\u00e7 y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n en \u00f6nemli de\u011fi\u015fkenlerinden biri haline gelmi\u015ftir. Modern sek\u00fclerle\u015fme s\u00fcreci ba\u015flang\u0131\u00e7ta, Avrupa ve ABD\u2019de ortaya \u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015f ve yay\u0131lm\u0131\u015fsa da bu olgu, tarihsel s\u00fcre\u00e7 i\u00e7erisinde her toplumun kendi dinamikleri ve k\u00fcreselle\u015fmenin etkisiyle di\u011fer d\u00fcnya toplumlar\u0131nda da ya\u015fanmaktad\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de sek\u00fclerle\u015fme, \u00f6zellikle son y\u0131llarda, etkisini hayat\u0131n bir\u00e7ok alan\u0131nda g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc bir \u015fekilde hissettirmektedir. \u00dclkemizin de sek\u00fclerle\u015fmeye ba\u015flamas\u0131yla birlikte bu olgu T\u00fcrkiye\u2019yi de ciddi anlamda ilgilendirmeye ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu y\u00fczden sek\u00fclerle\u015fme olgusu ve dinamikleriyle toplum olarak y\u00fczle\u015filmesi ka\u00e7\u0131n\u0131lmaz g\u00f6r\u00fcnmektedir. Bat\u0131n\u0131n sek\u00fclerle\u015fme modeli Tanr\u0131ya yer vermeyen sek\u00fclerist ve pozitivist bir nitelik ta\u015f\u0131maktad\u0131r. Buna tepki olarak yeni paradigma aray\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131n g\u00fcndeme gelmesi de gecikmemi\u015ftir. Ancak her ne kadar postsek\u00fcler d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcrler buna kar\u015f\u0131 \u00e7\u0131ksalar da \u00f6nerdikleri model, mevcut durumu daha da karma\u015f\u0131k hale getirmekten \u00f6teye gidememi\u015ftir. \u00d6rne\u011fin buradaki modern sek\u00fclerle\u015fme s\u00fcreci \u00f6ncelikle kilisenin hakikat tekeli iddias\u0131n\u0131 daha sonra da t\u00fcm dinsel hakikat iddialar\u0131n\u0131 y\u0131karak geli\u015firken postsek\u00fclerle\u015fme s\u00fcreci ise t\u00fcm hakikat iddialar\u0131na; dolay\u0131s\u0131yla bilimin de hakikat iddias\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131 \u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. B\u00f6ylece gelinen noktada Bat\u0131\u2019n\u0131n bilim paradigmas\u0131 bir \u00e7\u0131kmaz ve krize do\u011fru evrilmi\u015ftir. \u0130bn Haldun, metafizi\u011fi d\u0131\u015flayan ya da metafizi\u011fe kay\u0131ts\u0131z kalan Bat\u0131\u2019n\u0131n sek\u00fclerle\u015fme modeline kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k, bilimsel y\u00f6ntem ve yakla\u015f\u0131m\u0131 da i\u00e7eren yeni bir sek\u00fclerle\u015fme modelini i\u00e7inde bar\u0131nd\u0131r\u0131r gibidir.  \u0130bn Haldun\u2019un bilim anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131na yak\u0131ndan bak\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131nda onda olgular\u0131n pozitif bir kavran\u0131\u015f\u0131 bulunmakla birlikte bilimsel ilke ve kurallara ilahi bir unsur eklemesi, onu egemen klasik sek\u00fclerle\u015fme modelinden ay\u0131rmaktad\u0131r.
