Babas\u0131, Kafkasya T\u00fcrklerinden y\u00fczba\u015f\u0131 \u00d6mer \u015eevki Beydir. \u00d6\u011frenimine, d\u00d6rt ya\u015f\u0131nda iken, G\u00d6nen Mahalle Mektebi\u201fnde ba\u015flad\u0131. Ailesiyle birlikte \u0130stanbul\u201fa gelince (1892), ilk\u00d6\u011frenimini \u00d6zel bir okul olan Aksaray\u201fdaki Mekteb-i Osmani\u201fde s\u00fcrd\u00fcrd\u00fc.Babas\u0131n\u0131n iste\u011fi \u00fczerine, Ey\u00fcp baytar R\u00fc\u015ftiyesi\u201fnin subay \u00e7ocuklar\u0131na \u00d6zg\u00fc b\u00d6l\u00fcm\u00fcne yat\u0131l\u0131 olarak yaz\u0131ld\u0131 (1893). Buradaki e\u011fitiminden sonra (1896), Edirne Askeri \u0130dadisi\u201fni (1900) ve \u0130stanbul Mekteb-i Harbiye\u201fyi bitirdi. 22 A\u011fustos 1903\u201fte piyade te\u011fmeni r\u00fctbesiyle mezun oldu. Merkezi Selanik\u201fte bulunan 3.
