Orhan Veli \u00f6yk\u00fcleri ilk kez 1947-1950 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda, yazar hayattayken Tanin gazetesi ile Se\u00e7ilmi\u015f Hik\u00e2yeler ve Yaprak dergilerinde, William Saroyan\u2019dan \u201cserbest\u201d olarak \u00e7evirdi\u011fi bir \u00f6yk\u00fc ise \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnden sonra 1952 y\u0131l\u0131nda Vatan gazetesinde yay\u0131mlanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Toplam yedi \u00f6yk\u00fcy\u00fc k\u0131sa \u00f6mr\u00fcne s\u0131\u011fd\u0131rm\u0131\u015f olan Orhan Veli, \u00f6mr\u00fc vefa etseydi belki \u00f6yk\u00fcc\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ile de bir ekol olabilirdi. Orhan Veli\u2019nin \u00f6yk\u00fclerini yay\u0131na haz\u0131rlarken en \u00e7ok \u00f6yk\u00fcc\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcne gereken de\u011feri teslim etmeyi ve \u015fairli\u011fi gibi \u00f6yk\u00fcc\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fcn de T\u00fcrk edebiyat\u0131nda hak etti\u011fi yeri bulmas\u0131n\u0131 arzu ettik. Ancak bizler, Orhan Veli\u2019yi eserlerinden ve onun hakk\u0131nda anlat\u0131lanlardan tan\u0131yanlar olarak ne kadar \u00e7abalasak da onu dostlar\u0131 kadar iyi tan\u0131yamaz ve anlatamay\u0131z. O nedenle bu kitapta, \u00f6yk\u00fclerden sonra yazar\u0131n hayattayken yirmi yedi say\u0131 \u00e7\u0131karm\u0131\u015f oldu\u011fu \u201cYaprak\u201d dergisine atfen, \u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnden sonra dostlar\u0131 taraf\u0131ndan son kez yay\u0131mlanan \u201cSon Yaprak\u201d dergisine yer vermeyi ve bu k\u0131ymetli dergiyi daha geni\u015f okur kitlelerine ula\u015ft\u0131rmay\u0131 hedefledik.
