Bu say\u0131n\u0131n edit\u00f6rl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc yapan Feyza Eyikul, s\u00fcrecin ba\u015f\u0131ndan beri Ba\u015fka Bir Okul M\u00fcmk\u00fcn olu\u015fumunun i\u00e7inde aktif olarak yer alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Derginin bir k\u0131sm\u0131 ise giri\u015fime ilham olan ve ba\u015f\u0131ndan beri deste\u011fini esirgemeyen yabanc\u0131 yazarlar\u0131n yaz\u0131lar\u0131 ile zenginle\u015ftirilmi\u015ftir.T\u00fcm d\u00fcnyada e\u011fitimin niteli\u011finin g\u00fcnbeg\u00fcn d\u00fc\u015fmekte oldu\u011fu tart\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131n ya\u015fand\u0131\u011f\u0131 bu d\u00f6nemde e\u011fitimde alternatif yakla\u015f\u0131mlara dair s\u00f6yleyecek s\u00f6z\u00fc olan, yeni y\u00f6ntemler \u00f6neren e\u011fitimciler Alternatif E\u011fitim Dergisi\u2019nde kendilerini ifade olana\u011f\u0131 bulabilmektedirler.\u201cDemokratik Okul (DO) ise \u00f6ncelikle \u00e7ocu\u011fun \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcne bir at\u0131f ile ba\u015flar. Okul denen; \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n bir araya geldi\u011fi mek\u00e2n ve zaman dilimlerinde \u201c(insan\u0131n) \u00e7ocu\u011fun \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc\u201d yeniden temin ve tesis etme iddias\u0131ndad\u0131r. Geleneksel e\u011fitim anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131ndan bir sapma olarak geli\u015fen bu yakla\u015f\u0131m, mutlak\u00e7\u0131 bir anlamdan \u00f6te, tarih i\u00e7inde farkl\u0131 uygulama \u015fekilleri de g\u00f6sterir. \u00c7ocu\u011fun \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fcn, kurucu ilke olmas\u0131, ayn\u0131 zamanda, kayna\u011f\u0131n\u0131 askeri disiplinden alan geleneksel okul anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131 da \u00e7\u00f6zer. Bu anlay\u0131\u015f, otoritenin okuldaki her halini (kurallar, yeti\u015fkinler, \u00f6\u011fretmenler, notlar yoluyla olu\u015fan kurumsal otorite vb.) sorgulamaya ba\u015flar; \u00e7ocu\u011fu bir kurucu \u00f6zne haline getirmeyi dener. Ayn\u0131 zamanda; yeni olana, bilginin \u00e7ocuk \u00f6zelinde s\u00fcrekli bir varolu\u015f-yokolu\u015f haline, \u00e7ocu\u011fun hesaplanmazl\u0131\u011f\u0131na ve \u00f6ng\u00f6r\u00fclemezli\u011fine de ya\u015fam alan\u0131 a\u00e7ma iddias\u0131d\u0131r bu. B\u00f6ylece korkular, endi\u015feler ve i\u00e7e kapanmalar\u0131n da \u00e7ocu\u011fun d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda olu\u015fum alan\u0131 bulamayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 varsayar.Demokratik Okul yakla\u015f\u0131m\u0131nda, \u00e7ocu\u011fun \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fck alg\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n geni\u015fli\u011fi ile her t\u00fcrl\u00fc \u00f6\u011frenim alg\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n a\u00e7\u0131kl\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve zenginli\u011fi do\u011fru orant\u0131l\u0131 bir seyir izler. \u00c7ocuk, davran\u0131\u015f ve eyleminde s\u0131n\u0131rlarla \u00e7at\u0131\u015farak deneyimleyerek, alg\u0131layarak, bunlar\u0131 i\u00e7selle\u015ftirerek bili\u015fsel ve sosyal duygusal s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131n\u0131 olabildi\u011fince geni\u015fletmeyi \u00f6\u011frenir. Her t\u00fcrl\u00fc \u00f6\u011frenmenin kayna\u011f\u0131, bu varl\u0131k halidir ki \u00e7ocu\u011fu s\u00fcrekli bir merak, ilgi ve deneyimlemeye ta\u015f\u0131r. Her ilgi ve deneyimleme, yeni bir yol a\u00e7ar \u00f6\u011frenme ad\u0131na. \u00d6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn \u00e7izgileri ise, ayn\u0131 mek\u00e2n\u0131 birlikte payla\u015fan \u00e7ocuklarla \u00e7at\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131nda, kendi koyduklar\u0131 kurallarda ve \u00f6\u011fretmenin e\u015fli\u011finde kendini dayat\u0131r.
