Cumhuriyet d\u00f6nemi tiyatrosunda halk edebiyat\u0131ndan esinlenen ama \u00e7a\u011fda\u015f kal\u0131plara uygun yaz\u0131lm\u0131\u015f oyunlar\u0131n ilk \u00f6rneklerini veren Ahmet Kutsi TECER, “Ko\u00e7yi\u011fit K\u00f6ro\u011flu”nun konusunu K\u00f6ro\u011flu hik\u00e2yelerinden se\u00e7er. K\u00f6ro\u011flu bir O\u011fuz destan\u0131 kahraman\u0131d\u0131r. Olaylar Anadolu\u2019da, \u0130slamiyet \u00f6ncesinde ge\u00e7er. T\u00fcrk efsanelerinde G\u00f6k ile Yer, tanr\u0131sal kudretlerdir. \u0130nsano\u011flu, bu ikisi aras\u0131ndaki varl\u0131kt\u0131r. Eserin yap\u0131s\u0131 bu ikileme dayan\u0131r. K\u00f6ro\u011flu- Bolubeyi \u00e7at\u0131\u015fmas\u0131, ezilen halk\u0131n bir derebeyine, yani feodal d\u00fczene kar\u015f\u0131 koyu\u015fudur. Oyunda halk dilinden se\u00e7ilmi\u015f pek \u00e7ok s\u00f6zc\u00fck, pek \u00e7ok deyim vard\u0131r. Anlat\u0131m dili, Dede Korkut hik\u00e2yelerini \u00e7a\u011fr\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u0131r.
