Postmodern Teori’de ele\u015ftirel bir toplum teorisinin yeniden in\u015fas\u0131n\u0131 hedefleyen Best ve Kellner, 1870’lerden itibaren dola\u015f\u0131ma giren terimin bir arkeolojisini sunuyor bize. Bu arkeolojinin \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131nda, Foucault, Deleuze, Guattari, Baudrillard, Lyotard, Jameson, Laclau, Mouffe gibi isimleri “postmodernist” kavram\u0131 alt\u0131nda toplama gerek\u00e7elerini belirtip, bu simalar\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131 ele\u015ftirel bir s\u00fczge\u00e7ten ge\u00e7iriyorlar. Bu tart\u0131\u015fma esnas\u0131nda yapt\u0131klar\u0131 serimleme sayesinde, postmodernist oldu\u011fu s\u00f6ylenebilecek bir dizi kavram a\u00e7\u0131kl\u0131\u011fa kavu\u015fturuluyor: B\u00fcy\u00fck anlat\u0131, temsil, hakikat, \u00f6zne, ger\u00e7ek, ilerleme, devrim nosyonlar\u0131n\u0131n reddi ve bunlar\u0131n yerine sunulan arzu, yersiz yurtsuzla\u015fma, k\u00f6ksap, \u00e7okkatl\u0131l\u0131k, dil oyunlar\u0131, fark, \u00f6zne konumlar\u0131, bilgi\/iktidar, soy k\u00fct\u00fc\u011f\u00fc, sim\u00fclasyon, hiper-ger\u00e7ek, radikal demokrasi, hegemonya nosyonlar\u0131. Radikal bir tarihsel kopu\u015fun ya\u015fand\u0131\u011f\u0131 fikrine kat\u0131lmamakla birlikte toplumsal ve k\u00fclt\u00fcrel boyutlarda \u00f6nemli de\u011fi\u015fimlerin oldu\u011funu kabul eden Best ve Kellner, bu de\u011fi\u015fimlerin toplum ve k\u00fclt\u00fcr teorisinin yeniden in\u015fa edilmesini gerektirdi\u011fini savunarak, postmodernist olarak s\u0131n\u0131fland\u0131rd\u0131klar\u0131 teorileri toptan karalay\u0131p yads\u0131mak yerine, bunlar\u0131n “rasyonel \u00e7ekirdek”lerini ara\u015ft\u0131rmay\u0131 tercih ediyorlar. Rasyonelli\u011fin rasyonel ele\u015ftirisi, totalitenin totalle\u015ftirici reddi, \u00f6znellik kategorisinin \u00f6znel bir kibirle bir k\u00f6\u015feye f\u0131rlat\u0131lmas\u0131, a\u015f\u0131r\u0131 mekanistik tek-nedenli teorilerin ele\u015ftirilmesine kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k nedenselli\u011fin toptan reddi, ak\u0131l ele\u015ftirisinde n\u00fcanslar\u0131n g\u00f6zden ka\u00e7\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131 bunlardan yaln\u0131zca birka\u00e7\u0131.
