Erenk\u00f6y ve Bostanc\u0131 k\u0131\u015f aylar\u0131nda insana rastlanmayan k\u00f6ylerdi. 1964 y\u0131l\u0131nda K\u0131br\u0131s’ta patlak veren “Kanl\u0131 Noel” olaylar\u0131n\u0131 takiben, \u0130stanbul’da ya\u015fayan Yunan vatanda\u015flar\u0131n\u0131n s\u0131n\u0131rd\u0131\u015f\u0131 edilmesi, T\u00fcrk vatanda\u015f\u0131 olan \u0130stanbullu Rumlar\u0131n da pani\u011fe kap\u0131lmas\u0131na neden oldu. Art\u0131k kendileri i\u00e7in burada g\u00fcvenli bir gelecek kalmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnen Rum ailelerin Yunanistan’a g\u00f6\u00e7 etmeye ba\u015flamas\u0131yla Kad\u0131k\u00f6y’\u00fcn yerle\u015fik Rum n\u00fcfusu, birka\u00e7 y\u0131l i\u00e7inde b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde eriyerek yok olma s\u00fcrecine girdi. Bu tarihten itibaren Rumlar h\u0131zla ekonomik ve sosyal hayattan \u00e7ekilmeye ba\u015flad\u0131lar. Bu g\u00f6\u00e7 5-6 y\u0131l i\u00e7inde Kad\u0131k\u00f6y’\u00fcn sosyal, etnik ve dini yap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 de\u011fi\u015ftirmekte gecikmedi.
