Beginning in the mid-17th century, the Ottoman Empire faced the devastating effects of epidemics originating from both Europe and India. Like in other nations, the Ottoman Empire experienced significant loss of life due to these outbreaks. While the government implemented various measures to combat these epidemics, they were unable to completely prevent them and fatalities persisted.
